Best of Western Canada - Day 10: Inside passage to Port Hardy
Day 10: We board the MV Queen of the North for one of the world's most beautiful ocean voyages. The scenery is spectacular, with towering mountains, roaring waterfalls, endless islands and virgin rain forest. Animal and marine life are abundant, including ealges, sea lions and porpoises. Arriving at Port Hardy on Vancouver Island for an overnight stay.

Day 10: Inside Passage Cruise
We wake up nice and early board the coach to get on the ferry. We park on the ferry and immediately book reserved seats in the private lounge (CAN$15 each) so we can always leave our seats and have something to come back to to rest.
We go and quickly explore the ferry, and then head towards the breakfast buffet. The buffet was reasonably priced and had very good breakfast items. We then went to the top decks and admire the views. The ride through the Inside Passage was incredibly smooth. The weather was not too great, at times raining and a bit too cloudy. Nonetheless we had fun and entertained ourselves.
We did manage to see wildlife whilst on the ferry, we saw purposes and whales, they were at quite a distance but you could see them swimming coming in and out of the water.
The last few hours on the ferry seemed to be quite rough as we were exposed to the ocean's waves. We eventually docked at about 23:00 at Port Hardy. The hotel was about 10 minutes drive away and checked in. Port Hardy Inn, 9040 Granville Street, PO Box 1798, Port Hardy.
The hotel was quite basic, after all we were only here for a night, and we were told to just pack an overnight bag as it was not worth unloading the coach as we would leave early in the morning. We would rate the hotel 1 star, our room stunk of smoke, it was noisy, you could hear people banging their doors in the corridor, speaking. You could hear the pipes banging etc. The hotel could do with a lick of paint or something but it was definately the worst of the trip. The decor was old, furniture bedding was old too. We could hardly sleep but too tired to complain.
The next day
