Day 14: Vancouver the penultimate day
We wake up nice and early, have breakfast and set of to go to Granville Island. We walk out of the hotel and turn right and walk to the end of Burrard Street. Just before the bridge is some stairs that take you down to the harbour area. There is a station where you wait for the water ferry and they come pick you every 5-10 minutes and it costs CAN $2 each to get to the otherside.
When we get to the other side on Granville Island we see the StoneGrill which was advertised in the brochure in the hotel so we thought that we would have lunch there. On the Island we walk through the market place (lots and lots of fresh fruit and meat) through to the other side and find a map of the island to visit the shops. The shops were very arty and ideal if you owned an appartment in Vancouver, as if you tried to ship the goods back home to UK we would get stung on shipping charges. Nonetheless we had lots of fun looking at the bits and bobs inside the shops, imagining what we could fill our new flat with.
We explored the whole island in about two hours and headed back onto the mainland. We get to StoneGrill and have our lunch there. For starters Kim has a big wild mushroom cooked on the stonegrill, whereas I had some soup. Kim had scallops, prawns for the main course, and I had a Alberta steak followed by a bottle of white wine. The StoneGrill concept is a very good idea, food served on hot volcanic rocks, you let the food cook as to how you want it, then eat it.

After the main course we got chatting to the waitress who asked us where we were from and how we found the StoneGrill. We said we was from UK, and found the restaurant in brochure. Anyhow StoneGrill treated us to a dessert.
We left StoneGrills quite full up and headed back along Burrard Street along the busy high streets to finish of our shopping if we had any left. Coming back from Robson Street Kim finds an icecream shop that has a fridge section purely based on soya. Impressed with this she had a soy ice cream as you can see from picture above and having a lot of fun eating it
We head back into Gastown and get some remaining gifts, go back to the hotel and for the final night we decide to eat at Roys restaurant again.
On this occasion the quality of food was not as good as the first night we ate. Also service was not as good either, and when we left, Kim had a nasty fall as she slipped on the stairs and sprained her ankle. Luckily she could walk but hobbling, otherwise we would have had a nightmare. The waitress did not offer any assistance and just left us to it.
We retired back to our rooms and the next morning I bought Kim a bandage to strap her leg up. There was no swelling, it seemed that Kim at bruised the bone of her foot and she was in pain whenever she put weight on it.
