Day 15: Vancouver the last day
Well we woke up had breakfast, I went to the chemist and bought some strapping and strapped up Kim's ankle. She could walk but with a hobble.
We packed our cases and checked out the room and left the suitcases in storage. We decided to got eat a dim sum lunch at King Fortune Restaurant on Burrard Street.
After that we mingled with the other party members until the stretch limousines arrived to take us to Vancouver airport. The Limousines arrive and we get whisked to the airport and checked in.
Checking in was nice and easy somehow we managed to have booked seats together on the return leg but the seats were in the aisle and they was the most uncomfortable seats you could be in. The airport had lots there, cafes, restuarants, shops, but do not enter the departure lounge yet as there is not as much shops behind the gates. Eventually we get called to our gate and then we say bye bye British Columbia, Canada we had a fantastic 2 weeks.
Conclusion:
Over the two weeks, including the ferry, train and coach journeys we had travelled 2,500 miles.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable trip, with early starts, this was planned to beat the other tourist coaches to the destinations. Sometimes it seemed a bit rushed, but the tour was more of a taster so you could revisit British Colombia/Alberta in your own time.
The tour went about the right pace, the tour director Bryce Jackson did an extremely fantastic job of looking after us. He was passionate about his job and knew his facts and figures and his history and geography. Great in recommending places to eat and visit.
During the tour the coach would make frequent pitstops for refreshments, these would be every 60-130 minutes. We bought a lot of mineral water from service stations and supermarkets nearby from the hotels
British Columbia and the parts of Alberta we visited the streets were clean, the people were friendly and approachable, pedestrians have right of way on the roads. What we liked was that there was no smoking indoors, inside buildings and especially in restaurants and cafes - I hope this happens in England sooner rather than later.
The quality of food in Canada was overall of a very high standard, reasonably cheap too
In terms of clothes, there is not many places to wash clothes so best take 14 days worth of clothes, rain proof maks are essential and warm clothes especially when in the Rockies.
All porterage is included at hotels during the tour
All pictures were taken with a Canon Ixus 500
